Railway Station Brest-Centralny (or Central Brest) was built in the pseudo-Russian style in 1886. It was opened on May, 28 in the presence of Emperor Alexander III. It was built in the form of "a medieval castle" with four water towers. The station was equipped with water heating. In the waiting halls for passengers of the 1st and 2nd class the flooring was parquet, for the 3rd class it was plank, in back rooms – asphalt. The railway station in Brest was the first railway station of the Russian Empire where electric lighting was installed – 172 lights.

In 1915, during the First World War, the building was ruined by the Russian troops when they retreated. The Polish authorities constructed a new building.

During the Second World War the station was also destroyed. In 1953-1957 the Brest railway station was rebuilt on the old parameters, but with a change in layout and composition.
