Just in the Botanical Garden of Horki you can find remainders of old redoubts and so called “Peter Hill”.

On the territory of the Academy there is a unique natural complex – the Botanical Garden with a unique arboretum of the nineteenth century. It has being formed and supported by efforts of students and professors. Among all this beauty there are two artificial ponds: Upper and Lower. Wandering on multitude paths you can reach remains of old redoubts and so called “Peter Hill” – during the North War in seventeen nine a tent of Peter I was situated in this place. Old redoubts are earth mounds for installation of guns. These fortification buildings were used for the first time by Russian forces just in Horki. Belarusian land was used as a bridgehead for running of warfare of two foreign armies – Swedish and twenty-five thousandth army of Peter I. “Hill of Mazepa” which stands opposite of “Peter Hill” symbolizes this resistance. In a park there are also graves of participants of uprising of eighteen sixty-three – eighteen sixty-four.
