Kobryn Synagogue is a historical building of the second half of the XIX century, an architectural monument.

Kobryn Synagogue is a monument of eclectic architecture with elements of classicism. The construction of the synagogue dates back to the second half of the XIX century. It is unique in its size, is one of the largest in Belarus.

Basilical towerless temple. It has a symmetrical three-dimensional composition. The central three-storey part of the main facade is highlighted by 4 flat blades. The same blades flank the building at the corners. The second and third floors are cut through by low semicircular window openings, the first floor is arched. The decorative elements are flat windowsill niches, figured rustication of the blades on the ground floor, arcature belts.

Until 1941, the population of Kobryn was predominantly Jewish. During the war, the synagogue became a kind of ghetto center, into which the fascists drove the Jewish population from all over the neighborhood. During the liquidation of the ghetto, it was here, at the walls of the synagogue, that the last execution was carried out. After the war, the synagogue was no longer functioning. During the anti-religious struggle, the authorities closed the synagogue. All valuable property was removed, and the building was used for production purposes. In the 80s, there was a workshop for the production of beer, and then soft drinks of the Kobryn cannery. Since the late 80s, the building was completely unattended, and gradually fell into disrepair. In 2001, the building was transferred to the Jewish community to create a Jewish cultural center. Unfortunately, the cultural and religious center of the Jewish people is now in an abandoned state.
