The Mound of Glory is one of the main war memorials of Belarus. The ensemble with a total height of more than 70 meters rises at the 21st kilometer from the national airport "Minsk".

In 1944 a grouping of 105 thousand German troops fell into the so-called "Minsk cauldron" at this place. In June 1944, the largest offensive operation of the Soviet troops called "Bagration" began. The 1st, the 2nd, and the 3rd Belarusian and the 1st Baltic fronts, with the help of partisans, one after another liberated the cities of Belarus from the German occupiers. The defeat of the Hitler's army of many thousands 20 km from Minsk was one of the decisive steps towards the complete liberation of Belarus from the enemy invasion.

In 1969, the memorial complex "The Mound of Glory" was opened in this place. The base of the 35-meter-high hill is the land of the hero cities of the USSR. Thousands of people joined the creation of the ensemble and brought here handfuls of land from various settlements affected during the war. At the top of the hill stands a sculptural composition of four bayonets, which symbolize the fronts that fought for the liberation of Belarus. Two staircases lead to them from the foot of the mound – 241 steps each.
