The Svietlahorsk Historical and Local Lore Museum was established in 1979 in the city of Svietlahorsk and was initially called the Museum of City History. Its current name, the State Cultural Institution "Svietlahorsk Historical and Local Lore Museum", was adopted in 2010. The mission of the Svietlahorsk Historical and Local Lore Museum is to collect, study, and preserve the natural and historical-cultural heritage of the Svietlahorsk District.

On the first floor of the museum, visitors can explore the region's nature, ecology, archaeology, ethnography, and the history of the Svietlahorsk District. The museum's collection includes samples of men's and women's clothing (from late 19th to early 20th century), such as shirts, sleeveless jackets, aprons, headwear, footwear, as well as a collection of belts from the late 19th century from the village of Karpovičy in the Svietlahorsk District, and a collection of household items and ethnographic artifacts. The museum also houses printed publications, including the unique Encyclopedia Dictionary edited by Professor I. Andryjeŭski. The museum collection also includes photo documents related to the history of the Paryčy Women's Spiritual Educational School and an authentic album from the women's school (1910).

A separate section is dedicated to the theme of the Great Patriotic War. In 2015, the exhibition "Operation Bagration" was opened, which presents documents and exhibits from the time of the Great Patriotic War. The museum complex includes samples of military equipment and weapons, including a Soviet IS-3 tank and a divisional gun D-44 (85 mm).

On the second floor, the exhibition showcases the industrial potential of the Svietlahorsk region and highlights the theme of internationalist warriors.

The museum staff conduct guided tours, museum classes, celebrations, participate in events, and there is also a club called "Interlocutor" associated with the museum.
