The Holy Resurrection Cathedral is located in the Old Barysaŭ on the market square and is a monument of the retrospective Russian style; there are also signs of stylization of the forms of Moscow church construction of the 17th century. The cathedral is included in the list of historical and cultural values of the Republic of Belarus and is an architectural decoration of Barysaŭ.

According to historical sources, in 1865 Barysaŭ survived five fires, which destroyed 345 houses. The fire did not spare the wooden cathedral, which was located next to the market. In the first half of 1867, a project and estimate for the construction of a new, stone cathedral was presented. The final project was designed by architect Piotr Miarkulaŭ. The design of the iconostases was created by the provincial architect August Strauch. The contract for the installation of three iconostases and two icon cases was concluded with the tradesman of the Koven province Girsh Elyashevsky. Uladzimir Jarmoĺski, leader of the local nobility, was in charge of financing the construction and providing the necessary materials. The temple was built by highly qualified masons from the town of Ivianiec. The construction itself lasted three years and ended on October 15, 1874.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the church warden Nil Burcaŭ initiated the construction of a brick belfry. This idea was brought to life in 1907 with the help of the Minsk eparchial architect Viktar Strujeŭ.

In 1937, the Holy Resurrection Cathedral was closed for worship, and the crosses were removed from the baths. A granary was arranged in the building of the temple, and the bell tower was converted into a parachute tower. During the German occupation, services in the cathedral were resumed. After the liberation of Belarus from the German invaders in 1944, the temple was left active.

In 1988, Archpriest Iaan Misiajuk was appointed rector of the Holy Resurrection Cathedral. On his initiative, the restoration of the temple was carried out. On June 16, 1997, the bell tower of the Resurrection Cathedral was re-consecrated. In 2005, due to the subsidence of the foundation, the temple building was declared emergency and worship services were no longer held in it. Restoration work began in 2006. Bishop Vienijamin of Barysaŭ (since 2020 Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslaŭje, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus), who was appointed rector of the cathedral in 2010, actively contributed to the renovation of the temple. On April 28, 2013, Vienijamin celebrated the first liturgy after 7 years in the renovated church. In 2014, the official opening of the Resurrection Cathedral took place.

The nine-domed three-apse temple has a cuboid, square in plan central volume, it is a cross in plan. It is 27 meters long, 23 meters wide and 12 meters high. The four-pitched roof, which completes the two-tier central volume, has a cylindrical light drum and an onion dome in the center, and cylindrical drums with domes are erected at the corners. The same domes are present above the apse and side extensions. Among the decorative elements of the richly decorated façade are kokoshniks, window and door architraves with semicircular and triangular pediments, profiled cornices, corner rusticated pilasters, and panels, contrasting with the red brick background. For the main arched entrance, a large portal was used, which looks like a profiled arch on 4 barrel-like pillars.
