The Castle Hill is located in the city center on the shores of the Siennienskaje Lake, where an ancient settlement used to be.

The Sianno Castle was situated on the site, where the sports and recreation complex is located. It was built in 1573 by Dzmitryj Sapieha and stood on a hill, which the locals called Castle Hill. A moat was dug on both sides of the hill, filled with water coming from the river. A drawbridge was built over the moat, and a two-story palace house was located on the hill. It was inhabited by the owner of the town Dzmitryj Sapieha, one of the richest people in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

In those years, the city was on the border of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Moscow State, between which there were frequent wars.

During the Great Northern War (1700–1721), General Lewenhaupt's Swedish troops, marching from Riga to Čareja to join King Charles XII's army, looted and destroyed the Sianno Castle, which was never rebuilt.

The Castle Hill itself was destroyed by the Russian authorities in 1903, and its embankment was used in the construction of roads.
