One of the most interesting Homieĺ museums is a branch of the folk art museum. The main museum is located in Vietka.
The Vietka Museum has a unique exposition dedicated to the Old Believers origins and the Belarusian traditions history. The Homieĺ branch of the Vietka Museum was founded in 2000. Since 2008, it has been located on the territory of the Homieĺ Palace and Park Ensemble in the former chess and checkers club building.
The museum occupies 4 halls. Despite periodic changes and updates of expositions, each hall has the same name.
The "Masterpiece of Tradition" hall is dedicated to one exhibit of great historical and cultural value. One such exhibit is the unique 16th century Gospel.
Old Believers copper and silver icons are exhibited in the "Man of Tradition" hall. Their production was officially banned in the 18th century, but in some places the tradition has survived.
Towels are displayed in the "Text of Tradition" hall. The museum keeps more than a thousand unique samples of towels collected during expeditions.
In the "Living Craft" hall you can get acquainted with the technologies used by weavers centuries ago.
The branch of the Vietka Museum hosts thematic exhibitions and the club "Paraskieva" dedicated to the study of weaving tradition. Changes of exhibitions in the branch halls take place every three to five months.
