The foot bridge over the Sož River is the most important bridge in the city in the warm season, because it leads to the city beach – the Homieĺ dwellers’ favorite place of rest.
After the Second World War, Homieĺ quickly developed as the largest industrial center in Belarus. New residential areas were built, and the population grew. In the 1960s, a beach and recreation area was created on the left bank of the Sož River. A foot bridge was built to connect the residential areas on the right bank of the river with the beach. In 1969, the bridge over the Sož River was opened. Its length is 293 meters. The bridge stands on three concrete supports, two of which are built into the riverbed, and one is on the promenade.
