In 2009, the Museum of History of Homieĺ launched a collection of photographs, cameras and photographic equipment. Gradually, a collection (about 500 items), which formed the foundation of the museum of photography, was formed. The Museum of Photography was opened in Homieĺ just before the city day in September 2015.
The first to donate a large number of museum items was local photographer and collector Lieanid Pinski. His initiative was supported by photographers and collectors not only from Homieĺ, but also from different parts of Belarus and other countries.
The museum is located on Kamunaraŭ Vulica in the premises of the most famous Homieĺ photo studio, which has been operating here since the 1960s.
The museum presents the history of photography during the 20th century. The permanent exposition includes key models of photographic engineering, materials and equipment, a large number of thematic books and periodicals dedicated to photographic art, as well as photos and photo albums, personal belongings of famous photographers.
As a result of the exhibition space expansion, in 2017, in honor of the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing, the renovated Museum of Photography and Printing was opened. There is a permanent exposition "History of Printing of the Homieĺ Region", which shows materials on the history of print media and printing houses of the Homieĺ Region since the early 20th century.
