The museum named after Vitoĺd Kaetanavič Bialynicki-Birulia was opened on December 24, 1982. This is the first memorial museum in Belarus dedicated to the life and work of the artist. The house in the small village Krynki near Bialyničy, where the artist was born, has not survived. Therefore, it was decided to open his museum in Mahilioŭ.
Vitoĺd Kaetanavič Bialynicki-Birulia (1872–1957) is a well-known Belarusian landscape painter, who developed the traditions of romantic landscape art and painted more than 200 pictures of spring nature. The Museum named after Vitoĺd Kaetanavič Bialynicki-Birulia was opened as a branch of the National Art Museum of Belarus. It is housed in a two-storey brick mansion, an architectural monument of the 17th century. The exposition of the museum acquaints visitors with the life and work of the famous Belarusian artist. The museum fund includes 114 paintings, 39 ethnographic and household items, 81 photographic materials and other artifacts. The total area of the museum is 712 square meters.
On the first floor, there is a memorial part of the exposition. Documents, photos of the artist and his family, personal belongings – sketchbook, palette, brushes and other items – are among the exhibits. The museum keeps a medal, which was awarded to the painting "Winter Dream" in 1911 at an exhibition in Barcelona, diplomas, congratulatory letters of the greatest masters of fine arts, publications on the artist's work.
On the second floor, there are paintings and sketches by Vitoĺd Bialynicki-Birulia. The exposition presents works with images of wooden architecture monuments, memorable places associated with the lives of famous people. One of the central places is occupied by Vitoĺd Bialynicki-Birulia’s work “Belarus. Spring has blossomed again”, painted in 1947.
In the attic of the museum there is an exhibition hall, where exhibitions of fine arts from the National Art Museum of Belarus and the Union of Artists of Belarus funds, as well as exhibitions of children's art are held.
