Ethnographic Complex "Mlyn" is the object of the Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Zaslaŭje"
The steam mill in Zaslaŭje is a unique monument of flour-milling production of the beginning of the 20th century. It was built in 1910 at the expense of Miachiedka-Savicki, a wealthy resident of the city, and is a three-storеy wooden building. At first, the mill was powered by a steam engine, the so-called locomobile, by wood fuel. For about 80 years, the mill obediently served its customers, but over time, its resource was exhausted. After restoration in 1990, it became the central object of the ethnographic complex of the Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Zaslaŭje".
Next to the mill there is the Museum "Chata zavoznika", on that very place where it stood at the beginning of the 20th century. The interior of that time was recreated in the premises. In the hall there is a small stove, a corner cupboard, shelves with ceramic, copper and brass dishes, a table with a samovar, a hanging washbasin. On the walls there are burnos (winter clothing made of home-woven cloth), as well as horse harness accessories. In the white room there is a tiled stove, shelves with hay-stuffed mattress, a sofa and a German pendulum clock, in the red corner there is an icon wrapped in a Belarusian towel, the floor is covered with a plank platform, the walls are plastered and whitewashed.
Also, there is a wooden barn near the mill (a building that was used to preserve food and household items), standing on a stone foundation. Its main facade is a gallery with a balcony, the railing is decorated with carvings. Inside, along the walls, there are bins for grain.
An integral part of the museum complex is the Museum "Kuznia", located in a building transported from the village of Kamień of Valožyn District. The interior consists of a forge, bellows, a deck with a single-horned anvil, a manual grinding and drilling machine, numerous tools: hammers, pliers. There is a horse corral next to the forge. Here, on the ground, there is a millstone, adapted for stuffing iron hoops on the wooden wheels of carts.
