At the beginning of the 20th century, in the city cemetery in Baranavičy, there was a church consecrated in honor of Prince Alexander Nevsky. After the end of World War II, due to the redevelopment of the city, as well as due to the anti-religious policy of the Soviet regime, this temple was demolished. When in the early 90s of the 20th century the idea of building of an Orthodox church in Baranavičy arose, it was decided to consecrate it in memory of the destroyed church in honor of Alexander Nevsky.

The parish of the Church of Saint Prince Alexander Nevsky was founded in 1992. The first rector and the main initiator of the construction of the temple was Baranavičy Dean Archpriest Aliaksandr Dzičkoŭski, the design work was carried out by Honored Architect of the Republic of Belarus Lieanid Makarevič.

The construction of the upper church of Alexander Nevsky lasted three years. Its consecration took place on September 6, 1998. In 2000, a parish house was built.
