Holy Cross Exaltation Church is an Orthodox temple in Luniniec. It is an architectural monument of retrospective-Russian style located in the center of the old part of the city.

The Orthodox wooden church in Luniniec was built in 1811 at the expense of parishioners. According to the description, in 1879 the church looked like an elongated cross with three domes, the roof of the church was shingle and red. Two entrance doors, three rows of windows, external and internal walls without painting. The church had a three-tiered wooden iconostasis painted in white, with 24 icons in painted frames. There were four bells on a separately constructed bell tower.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the population of Luniniec, which became a large railway station, increased significantly. The old wooden church, which also required constant repairs, was no longer adequate to the time, so the question of building a new brick temple in the same place where the wooden one stood arose.

Even before the laying of the first church stone, a collection of donations for the construction of a new church was announced in the Luniniec parish. Money were coming from a few employees of the railway station, teachers, military men, private individuals, enterprises owners and others. Large funds were donated by the Paliessie’s Railways Department.

In the spring of 1912, the foundation for the Luniniec Holy Cross Exaltation Church was laid. But due to wars and occupations, construction lasted almost 10 years. The new temple building was completed already under the Polish government in 1921 and survived the entire difficult XX century. Now this is the main temple of Luniniec.

The Holy Cross Exaltation Church is an architectural monument of the retrospective-Russian style. The main entrance is decorated with a great arched portal. Unplastered walls are saturated with brick decor. The church has more than twenty icons of the XVIII – XIX centuries.
