The Orthodox Church of the Christ Resurrection is located on the historical Market in the center of Ašmiany.
The Orthodox Church of the Christ Resurrection was built on the site of the Dominican church and monastery destroyed by the Russian Empire authorities. The construction permit was issued on March 7, 1873, and the project and the estimate were approved in 1875. The construction itself was carried out from September 1873 to August 1883. The church remained active during the time when Western Belarus was part of Poland. In 1934, the famous Belarusian religious and public figure Mikalaj Lapicki was its priest. The authorities closed the church in 1964 in line with Soviet anti-religious policies. And only in 1990 the building was transferred to believers again. The Orthodox Church of the Christ Resurrection began operating in February 1992. The chapel opening ceremony dedicated to the 2000th anniversary of Christianity took place at the church in the summer of 2001.
The Orthodox Church of the Christ Resurrection is an example of the pseudo-Russian direction in church architecture.
