A monument to the great Belarusian first printer, writer, scientist, educator, outstanding cultural figure of the Renaissance Francysk Skaryna stands in the square near the Farny Roman Catholic Church.

At the end of 1989, a public figure, pedagogue, poet Michaś Mieĺnik, who at that time headed the Lida City Council of the Francysk Skaryna Belarusian Language Society, made a proposal to install a monument to the famous Belarusian in Lida. On July 25, 1993, the monument was unveiled. 

The image of Skaryna in bronze was created by Minsk sculptor Valiarjan Januškievič. The architectural decoration of the territory around the monument, the installation of the monument were carried out under the direction of Lida artist Ryčard Hruša. In the sculpture, the first printer is embodied in a long robe, with his right hand raised, symbolizing knowledge and wisdom. Nearby there is the Bible on a high pedestal.
