Holy Cross Exaltation Catholic Church made of red bricks looks picturesque on the well-maintained bank of the Bierazina river.

The first wooden Catholic church in the village of Šacilki was built in 1638 and was called the “Catholic Church of the Holy Cross”. During the war of 1812, the Catholic church burned down. A new wooden Catholic church was erected in 1818. During the XIX century, it was rebuilt several times.

At the period of the BSSR, in line with anti-religious policy, the Holy Cross Exaltation Catholic Church was closed in 1936 by the Soviet power, and in 1939 the Catholic church building was destroyed.

The Catholic parish in Svietlahorsk was revived in 1990. The temple was built from 1992 to 1997. On September 6, 1997, the Catholic church was consecrated by Cardinal Kazimir Sviontek.
