Monument to Kiryla Turaŭski, erected on May 11, 1993 on Zamkavaja hill on the bank of the Prypiać river. Authors: sculptor Michail Ińkoŭ, architect Mikalaj Luk'jančyk.
Kiryla Turaŭski was born around 1113 and died around 1182. He was a Belarusian and East Slavic religious figure, theologian, writer.
In 1123, Kiryla Turaŭski took tonsure. And since 1161 he became a bishop of Turaŭ. Kiryla Turaŭski was actively engaged in preaching, political and literary activities. He became famous as a master of oratory prose. He is an author of sermons, prayers, teachings, parables, canons. In total, about 70 works of his authorship have been preserved.
The seven-meter monument to Kiryla Turaŭski is made of concrete and covered with copper. The sculpture represents a figure of Kiryla Turaŭski himself with his head raised, and there is a cross of the Byzantine form behind the figure. The bishop holds the Bible in his left hand, on the binding of which the cross is engraved, and his right hand points to this Book.
