A bronze beaver, according to the words of the monument author, is the ironic image of an average statistical inhabitant of Babrujsk of the beginning of the XX century.

Babrujsk was conceived in a picturesque place – on Biarezina River. Once, a small settlement was accommodated here, the inhabitants of which were occupied with fish and beaver trade. Therefore, as some historians think, the city received its name “Babrujsk”. The inhabitants of Babrujsk received an unprecedented gift in 2006. It is Monument to a beaver which weighs more than 300 kilograms. It was placed on the busiest street of Babruisk near the entrance to the central market. Uladzimir Haurylenka became the author of the sculpture. The sculpture is made of bronze and represents a monument of a beaver of 1 metre 70 centimeters height in a frock coat and a hat.
