Babrujsk Fortress is a complex of fortification buildings raised by Russian authorities on the joined territory of Belarus at the beginning of the XIX century.

Babrujsk Fortress was laid in 1807 on the place of Babrujsk Castle. The construction was in two stages: from 1807 to 1812 and from 1812 to 1836. Thousands of soldiers and peasants took part in the construction. The newest attainments of European military skill were used. The citadel was referred to the first class of defensive buildings of the Russian Empire, its territory made up more than a hundred hectares. Babrujsk Fortress was one of the important points of the Russian officer movement of Decembrists who were stepping forth for the liquidation of monarchy and transition to the republican order of government. In 1823 they worked out the plan of the arrest of tsar Alexander I during his visit to the Fortress. After the stifle of the movement of Decembrists, the Fortress was altered to a back-breaking prison. Today, less than a half, about 50 objectives have remained from the bastion and all are noticeably damaged.
