The Holy Nativity of the Theotokos Church and Monastery are an architectural monument of the transitional style from baroque to classicism.

The church was built in 1720–1751 from bricks by the Italian architect Giuseppe Fontana on the site of a former wooden Basilian monastery. The temple was consecrated in 1756. After the Polack Church Council in 1839 and the liquidation of the Uniate Church, the temple was converted to Orthodox. In 1848 the church was renovated at the expense of the parishioners. In the 1860s, the so-called "warm" Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh was added; in 1891, a two-storey utility building was constructed in the western part of the complex.

The temple was damaged during the First World War. During the Second World War, the monastery continued to function, albeit with significant restrictions. The monastery functioned until 1960, after that the nuns were evicted to the monastery in Žyrovičy, and various institutions were located in the church buildings. In 1977–1992, the temple housed the Belarusian State Museum of Atheism and the History of Religion. By the decision of the Hrodna Regional Executive Committee, the temple and the buildings of the monastery were transferred to an Orthodox convent in June 1992.

Today, the architectural complex consists of the conjunction of the residential monastic building, the chapel and the church.
