Niezaliežnasć (eng. Independence) Square is the central square of Minsk and the largest one.

The architectural appearance of the square began to develop in 1933 under the project of the famous architect Iosif Lahbard. After the Second World War, in 1963–1964, a number of old buildings were demolished in order to increase the area. During the BSSR, the square was named after Lenin, and with the restoration of independence of Belarus in 1991, it became known as Niezaliežnasci (Independance) Square.

Niezaliežnasci Square is located at the beginning of Niezaliežnasci Avenue. The square houses the Government House, the Minsk City Executive Committee, the Belarusian State University, the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maksim Tank, the Minsk Hotel, the Main Post Office, the Metro Department, and the Red Church. There is a 3-storey shopping center "Stalica" and a 4-storey parking for 500 places in the underground part of the square. There is an exit from the metro station “Plošča Lienina”. The square acquired its modern appearance in 2006 after its reconstruction, which had began in 2002.
