The Clock Tower or Ščučyn’s «Big Ben» on the Plošča Svabody is the symbol of Ščučyn.
At the beginning of the XX century, a brick chapel in the form of a tower was built on the central square of Ščučyn, which today is called «Plošča Svabody».
It was supposed to protect the city, which was mainly of wooden buildings, from fires. Over time, the tower had deteriorated. And in the 1960s it was decided to destroy it.
In 2017, a clock tower was built on the site of the former red brick chapel tower. Citizens nicknamed this building Ščučyn’s «Big Ben». The new clock tower has the features of classicism and is decorated with a weather vane.
