The Palace of Druckis-Liubieckis, located on the shore of the lake, is not only a monument of architecture of the XIX century, but also one of Ščučyn's «calling cards».
The Palace of Druckis-Liubieckis is an architectural landmark of the XIX century, which can be attributed to two styles at once – Baroque and Classicism. In the XVIII century the estate was the property of the noble family Scipione del Campo. In 1807, after the marriage of Maria Scipione del Campo and duke Francišak Ksavieryj Drucki-Liubiecki, the estate passed into the possession of the duke.
Francišak Ksavieryj Drucki-Liubiecki held various government posts. For some time he was a representative of the Russian Empire in France. The duke had fallen in love with this country so much that he wanted to build an estate that would resemble French residences in his homeland.
After the resignation, duke Francišak Ksavieryj moved to the Ščučyn estate and began its transformation. By order of the duke the estate was reconstructed by the architect Rostworowski. The prototype was the Versailles Petit Trianon. A gorgeous park was laid out around the renovated palace.
The ducal family of the Druckis-Liubieckis owned this magnificent palace until 1939. During the Nazi occupation a German infirmary was situated in the palace, this allowed the building to survive.
There was the Soviet officer house in the palace of Druckis-Liubieckis in the postwar years.
In the late 90s of the XX century the question about the reconstruction of an architectural monument was raised. Reconstruction works had been going on in the palace building since 2004. Facades and roof were restored, wooden elements were brought into proper condition: doors, ceiling, wall cladding. Works to improve the local lake, preserved from ancient times, were underway. After completion of restoration work in 2013, the building was transferred to the city authorities. Currently there is «Ščučyn Palace of Children and Youth» in the palace building. In 2017 the museum room of the Druckis-Liubieckis’ palace opened its doors to visitors.
