The wall painting "Panorama of Brest in the XVII century" is made on the basis of an ancient engraving by Dahlberg and gives a perspective of ancient Brest as an important religious centre in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

The wall painting "Panorama of Brest in the XVII century" was made on the basis of an ancient engraving by Dahlberg, 1657. The engraving depicts the siege of Brest by Swedish troops in 1657.

This artwork gives an idea of the historical appearance of the ancient city, and also shows that Brest was an important religious centre of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The engraving depicts a Jesuit church, a Greek Catholic church, a Dominican church, a Bernardine monastery and a synagogue. There was a Brest Calvinist church in the city at that time, which was founded by Mikalaj Radzivil Čorny in 1553.

Unfortunately, all these landmarks were destroyed after the accession of Belarus to the Russian Empire. In the 30s-40s of the XIX century the Brest fortress was built at the site of the old town. And the city was moved 5 kilometres to the east.
