Savieckaja Street (former Čačerskaja street) is a compositional axis of Homel.
Information about the existence of this street dates back to the 16th century. At that time, Homieĺ had a clear plan and an estate-street construction. The main streets fan-shaped diverged from the castle to the defensive zone and ended with solid towers. These streets were called "arrows", or rays. There were 5 such streets. One of these 5-rays streets was a present day Savieckaja street. At that time it was called Čačerskaja street. The fate of the Čačerskaja street was the following. Its main segment has disappeared, and the continuation was called Prabojnaja. This name means that the street pierced through Homieĺ. In 1861 the street was renamed to the Rumyantsev - in memory of the former owners of the Homieĺ - Rumyantsev family. The street received its name Savieckaja - in 1919, and its present shape was formed after the Second World War. Architecture of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, administrative buildings, educational institutions, scientific, commercial and other buildings, houses - all this creates a special artistic atmosphere. And of course small parks and squares along the street make the street even more colorful.
