The Kareličy Local Lore Museum will tell you how people used to live here a long time ago.

The museum was founded in 1969. It opened for visitors only in five years. This opening was preceded by long work... Materials were collected all over the district. Valiancina Klimaš started this work, and in a year Ivan Šybut took it over. It was he who became the first exposition creator and the first museum director. The exposition starts with archeogical monuments of the Kareličy District. Among the exhibits, there are materials from excavations of the Neolitic site near the village of Jaremičy and the Iron Age castle hill near the village of Varonča. You can get aquainted with the Middle Age local history as well. There are artefacts from Mir and the Mir Castle excavations, a copper coins hoard of the 18th century, manuscripts of the 18th–19th centuries with Belarusian agricultural calendar rituals. Another part of the exposition is dedicated to the routine of Belarusian peasants of the 19th–20th centuries. There you can see how Belarusians lived a hundred years ago. In the same part of the museum, there are works of famous Belarusian artists of the Kareličy District. A significant section of the museum exposition is dedicated to the events that took place here during the Second World War. Today, the museum holds more than 9,000 exhibits, and this list is constantly being added. Moreover, the museum constantly hosts various events about famous residents of the Kareličy District, organizes traveling exhibitions.
