The monument was erected on July 26, 2009 at the intersection of Hohalia Str. and Savieckaja Str. in the old part of the city with the help of donations of the citizens and the city funds.

The authors of the monument are an architect Aliaksiej Andrajuk, a sculptor Aliaksiej Paŭliučuk. The monument, that is 15 metres high, is designed as a model of the city, expressed in historical images (Duke Uladzimir Vasiĺkavič, Grand Duke of Lithuania Vitaŭt and Chancellor of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania Mikalaj Radzivil Čorny) and generalized images of the citizens of the city (a chronicler, a soldier, a mother). All the figures are under the protection of a Guardian Angel.

In April 2011 a circular high relief was installed with a total area of 11 square metres. It reflects six historical subjects: a legend about the founding of the city, the construction of the city, participation in the Battle of Grunwald, the publication of the Brest Bible, the defence of the Brest Fortress in 1941.

Publication date: 12.06.2017.
